It’s time to make this mandatory in Darien. I feel that following the lead of other towns in doing so will send a compelling message to other Fairfield County towns and beyond to not be left behind in taking real action and as increasing awareness begin to take hold.

A lot of events here in California give away reusable bags to attendees as part of marketing strategies. This helps in two ways. The advertisers get free publicity and a person is given their first bag. This can be a start to what is ultimately a collection! I completely agree with jmg44, some people need a simple reminder, as well as a start.

Just a thought….when you see someone walking into the grocery store without their own bags, or leaving the grocery store with a cart full of plastic bags, simply ask them if they’ve ever considered bringing their own reusable bags. Maybe, if you have an extra, you can share one of yours with them! Sometimes people just need a simple reminder!

Am thinking of bringing my young kids along to see the movie. We have reduced our plastic bag intake considerably in the past 2 years or so.

Love the web site! I also like to get the paper bags and use them as trash bags in the bedrooms – they stand up, so no need for the plastic bin+plastic bag and paper bags hold up more

If you must have a plastic bag or 2 to line your home waste baskets – please try and make sure they are recyleble ones.
